The seventeenth pastor was Gavin Morton Walker, D.D., March 1, 1929 to April 1936. Born in Scotland, 1877. Ordained by British Columbia Baptist Convention in Vancouver, B.C. Pastorates in British Columbia, Ontario and Pennsylvania (Lewistown, Pittsburgh, Meadville, and Philadelphia); B.D., Crozer; Th.M., Crozer: D.D. Allegheny. Author "Words of the Faith," religious education studies, "Pennsylvania Baptist Centennial," "Philadelphia Baptist Development in Two Centuries and a Quarter." Held many denominational offices. Taught in Pennsylvania Baptist Summer Assemblies several years. Member of Board of American Baptist Historical Society, Trustee of Eastern State Penitentiary and member of Parole Board. On Baptist Institute faculty, Philadelphia. Trustee of Bryn Mawr War Memorial and Community Association, Vice President Main Line Federation of Churches, etc. Died on Palm Sunday, 1936.
